The day ended much clearer than it likely began for several people here in the east that received free eye care.
It was all part of Saturday’s “Eyes of Hope” benefit in New Bern.
The event involved local optometrists and VSP Vision Care. VSP is the largest not-for-profit vision benefits and services company in the U.S.
A mobile clinic was used to provide eye exams and new glasses for folks who may not have insurance or be able to typically afford care.
A clinic was also set up inside Garber Methodist Church to provide for even more residents.
The clinic ran all the way from 8 in the morning until 5 p.m.
