Firefighters Battle New Bern Apartment Blaze

Fire crews this afternoon battled a blaze at a public housing complex.

Multiple fire units responded around 3:40 p.m. to Trent Court, that's next to the Tryon Palace in New Bern.

Fire Marshal Danny Hill says the fire began on a mattress in building B-2. The woman and her family at home were able to make it out safely.

Hill says it took them about five minutes to bring the fire under control, but says there was a lot of smoke. Firefighters were also making sure the fire didn't spread to any other apartments.

The fire marshal says cause of the fire is under investigation.

Along with the Pot Smoke, the Crack smoke, the cigarette smoke and the smoke from the uncleaned oven/stove...they should still be able to live there. Heck, they probably won't even notice the smell. But I'm wondering who's gonna pay for the damage? Oh, silly me...I'm sure they've got insurance.
