Some military aircraft refurbished here in the east will soon be headed to the U.S. State Department.
The Fleet Readiness Center at Cherry Point has completed two H-46 aircraft for them. Both aircraft were refurbished in less then 180 days after a combined 80-plus years of service in the Marine Corps.
Mitch Bauman, the Commanding Officer at FRC East says these are just the first two H-46s to be refurbishing for the State Department. Bauman says, "I'm very proud of the folks here at FRC East. They did a tremendous job and I look forward to extra work coming in here over the next few years with the State Department.
The aircraft will be sent to Afghanistan to provide aviation support to the State Department's personnel.
