A woman was airlifted from the scene of a single-car crash near New Bern this morning. Officials say her vehicle crashed into a tree.
The wreck happened on Highway 70 in Craven County near mile marker 411, which is near the new Highway 17 bypass, according to Craven County Emergency Services Director Stanley Kite.
Kite says crews from the West New Bern Fire Department freed the woman from her vehicle. She was then airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
The Highway Patrol is investigating. No word yet on what caused the driver to run off the road. Her name and condition have not been released. Kite says it was estimated the woman is in her mid-30's.
