DOT Discusses Highway 70 Bypass In Havelock

The state has made its choice on which path to build a Highway 70 bypass in Havelock.

The Department of Transportation says their "preferred alternative" for a Highway 70 bypass around Havelock is known as corridor 3. The ten-mile bypass runs on the southwest side of Havelock and U.S. 70, starting north of the Havelock city limits and past the Carteret County line.

Construction could start as early as 2014, though that is not finalized yet.
