NEW INFO: Craven County Deputies Investigate Mobile Home Park Shooting

Craven County deputies are still trying to piece together exactly why a man was shot Wednesday night.

Deputies were called around 7:45 p.m. for a shooting at Homecrest Mobile Home Park on Highway 70, east of New Bern.

Captain Joe Heckman says Levar Shannon was shot in the hip and he's already been released from Vidant Medical Center. Shannon told detectives that the shooting happened after a dispute he had with two other people.

A small caliber handgun was used and no one has been arrested in the shooting.

Craven County deputies were on the scene of a shooting Wednesday night at 4000 Highway 70 East. They responded about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a man shot in the hip at lot 2 in the Homecrest Mobile Home Park.

The Sheriff's Office has not released the names of the victim nor a suspect, motive, or condition of the man reportedly shot.
