The Craven County Fire Marshal is investigating why a van parked outside a deputy's home went up in flames early Wednesday morning.

WITN's Brittany Creamer was on the scene near Vanceboro in Craven County and reported a van was on fire at 845 Purser Road. We've learned that's the home of Craven County Deputy Kirby Ford. His wife called in the fire right before 2:30 a.m.

Ford told us, "I've been trying to run through my mind anybody that thinks that I wronged them doing my job. And that could be a bunch of people."

The van fire melted some of the siding on the house. No injuries were reported.
