A Craven County man was found dead Wednesday after an apparent lawn mower accident.
Craven County Deputies say they are not sure exactly when the man died because he lived alone and was last seen Tuesday morning before the discovery of his body Wednesday.
The Craven County Sheriff's Office says a neighbor found 58-year-old Vernard Grunder, still sitting on his lawn mower around 5:30 pm near Grunder's home near 290 Turkey Quarter Creek Road close to Cove City.
Lt. Clark says Grunder was mowing grass on a zero-turn lawn mower and ran up on a detached wooden deck and it hit him about mid chest level.
No foul play is suspected.
Neighbors called 911 and deputies responded.
The sheriff's office is waiting on results of an autopsy for an exact cause of death.
