We have new details about the fire at the ABC store in Brunswick County where a Cherry Point marine is credited with saving the life of the driver who crashed into the building. The police department has asked the State Bureau of Investigation to step in to help.
Witnesses say Steven Early's truck was on fire when it hit the liquor store Tuesday night. Police have not been able to confirm that, so that's why the SBI is now assisting in the investigation. Early is charged with driving while impaired.
Investigators say more charges could be filed. Cherry point marine, Lance Corporal David Shouse, was driving by the scene and pulled the driver out of the vehicle.

Investigators say Tuesday night- Steven Early crashed his burning truck into the store in Boiling Spring Lakes in Brunswick County.
Lance Corporal David Shouse drove by and saw Early's truck and the store on fire.
The fire chief says if the flames reached the alcohol- the store would have exploded, but firefighters quickly put out the fire and the Marine pulled Early to safety.
Early is charged with drunk driving.
