Craven County deputies say they now know the identity of a woman shown in surveillance video at a convenience store.
Captain Joe Heckman says they are now interviewing the woman who may be connected to the August homicide of Troy Collins on Riverdale Road.
Wednesday morning deputies released store surveillance video that shows the woman walking into the business.
Just hours after lawmen released the video to the media they say someone identified the woman. Lawmen had been trying to identify the woman since August.
Heckman says right now it appears the woman is more of a witness, rather than a suspect in the murder.
Craven County deputies are asking for the public's help in identifying someone in connection with a murder investigation.
They released video Wednesday of store surveillance video that shows a woman walking into the business, then purchasing an item at the register. Deputies say it is known the woman drives a small red car.
Captain Joe Heckman says they've had the surveillance video since August and have been trying to find the woman on their own since then, but haven't had any luck.
Heckman says the woman may have dropped the victim off at the store and they are not sure if she's involved in the murder or not.
Two men have already been charged in connection with the August 18th murder of Troy Collins on Riverdale Road. Deputies say Collins was killed when a drug deal went bad. Charged so far are Gary Turpin of Newport and Anderson Gentry of New Bern.
Deputies say if you can identify the woman in the video you should call the Craven County Sheriffs Office at 252-636-6632 or Crime Stoppers at 252-633-5141.
