The western part of Craven County is getting a boost as ground was broken for a big new development today.
Craven Thirty is being built at the intersection of the new Highway 43 connector and U.S. 70, just inside the New Bern city limits.
Weyerhaeuser is developing the complex, which will include a 75-acre shopping center, multiple restaurants, a movie theater, a medical office park and several apartment complexes.
Developers say they will start out with 250 apartment units, and then add townhouses and patio homes.
Governor Beverly Perdue was on hand for this morning's groundbreaking.
