FIRST ON WITN: Autopsy Says New Bern Deaths Murder-Suicide

Preliminary autopsy results show a deadly double shooting last week in New Bern was a murder-suicide.

Brittany Jones and Johnnie Neely were found dead inside a home on Julia Clay Street Friday afternoon. Police say both people had been shot.

While New Bern police say it could be three months to a year before the cause of deaths are know, the Onslow County Medical Examiner's Office tells WITN News that the 20-year-old Jones died from multiple gunshot wounds, while Neely, who was 25-years-old, died from a single gun shot wound to the head.

The Medical Examiner's Office lists Jones' death as a homicide and Neely's death as suicide.

Does anyone know about funeral arrangements? I would like to pay my respects to the families. Johnny was always such a sweet boy and loved that baby girl. I'm still in shock from thr news. God bless their families.

Yes, Could This Be Him....that is the same Johnnie Neeley. Yes, Formerly O.L.I...their three year old daughter is the greatest tragedy. I knew both of these people as acquaintances. Johnnie was a heavy drinker. I don't know about drug use. He looked so meek and humble. It is a shock that he had this in him. He must have been in a jealous rage and lost control of everything. I hope that the families and daughter can find peace after such a tragedy.

This is sad, but the saddest part is the 3 yr. old child left behind. What a legacy to start out with. We have many fine young people, but the few who leave this kind of mess behind, are depositing a new generation of troubled people...what is the world really coming to?

If this is him, he's apt to have been abusive in the recent past, with the same woman. http://webapps6.doc.state.nc.us/opi/viewoffender.do?method=view&offenderID=0895353&searchLastName=Neely&searchFirstName=Johnnie&searchGender=M&listurl=pagelistoffendersearchresults&listpage=1
