Firefighters on the scene of a house fire in Craven County said two people escaped from the early morning blaze thanks to smoke detectors going off.
Crews tell WITN around 3AM they were dispatched to 307 Antioch Road. That is in the Antioch Lakes subdivision off Highway 17 in Craven County.
Firefighters say two people were home at the time, but both escaped through a window.
Authorities say smoke detectors alerted the two people and that the fire is not suspicious. The house was a total loss.
Craven County dispatchers told WITN that several fire crews are on scene at an early morning house fire.
Crews are actively working on the fire at 307 Antioch Road in New Bern.
