Fire crews battled near 100°temperatures this afternoon as they fought a house fire in New Bern. It was the third fire in the city since 11:30 a.m.
The fire happened on Conner Grant Road, near the airport.
Firefighters say the rear of the house blew up. They say the owner was using a propane grill at the time. He, his wife and their dog make it out okay, but the home was destroyed.
The fire was so hot it melted the siding on the home next door.
Firefighters say an exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
