A head on collision Thursday morning claimed the life of Pamlico County woman, who family members say was pregnant.
The Highway Patrol says, 32-year-old Crystal Patterson and her son David Patterson were heading North on Highway 43, when a Nissan pickup truck, crossed the center line, hitting them head on.
Crystal Patterson died at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Her sister says David Patterson was treated and released from the hospital.
This is the second fatal accident in two months near Highway 43 and 102 in Calico. In May, a motorcyclist was killed when a tractor trailer slammed into him.
The driver of the pickup truck, John Isenhart has not been charged, although the Highway Patrol says charges are pending. Authorities say alcohol, drugs or speed don't seem to be a factor in the crash.
