Police have arrested a New Bern man on a federal gun charge.
Kenneth Tankston of Myrtle Avenue was stopped Friday after police learned he had an outstanding federal warrant for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
The 33-year-old was put in the Craven County jail without bond pending an appearance before a federal magistrate.
Tankston's arrest was made in conjunction with Project Safe Neighborhood, a federal, state & local law enforcement partnership designed to make communities safer by charging in federal court those who carry firearms which engaged in specific criminal activity.
