Assistant Principal Charged With Stealing Money From School

A middle school assistant principal has resigned after being charged with stealing money from the school.

John Strickland, who lives in Craven County, was arrested Monday by Mount Olive police. Major Brian Rhodes says $52 was taken from the bookkeeper's office at Mount Olive Middle School last Friday. They are also looking into more than $400 missing from the school book fair as well.

The 37-year-old Strickland was hired in Wayne County in August 2006 as a math teacher at Dillard Middle School and promoted to the assistant principal job in August 2008.

Police say he was released from jail after posting a $1,000 bond.

I believe that he did steal the money! Don't let the innocent face fool you. There is no excuse for such actions as this. John Strickland, you call yourself a man of God, but is this what God would want from you? Shame, shame, shame. You have brought shame to your family, friends, and church members. You need to fall on your knees and ask God for forgiveness. Wonder what your new baby girl thinks of her father now?!?!?!

Well Well, guess who also has a pending drug charge. Glad he's out of our school system. Of course he fits in with several others in the Wayne County School System.

Response to Teacher: No, I am an avid supporter of the principal not the thief. I also know the principal has high standards and ethics. Backbone is definitely there. Anyone that knows this principal knows that she is a strong disciplinarian. The principal is doing her job. As stated earlier, "Get over yourself! You are bitter and those of us that know you know why. Grow up and take responsibility for yourself and stop trying to make trouble for a person just doing their job!"

Doing their job? Unless stealing money from a poor community school is doing their job then I believe it is called stealing. Also, that man (along with the principal) were the downfall of MTO. The students run all over that school because they know that they will not get into trouble from either one of them. All they do is have "a talking to" and send them back to class. The students go to ISS and then get into trouble and strickland or sasser just give them another day of ISS. If either had a backbone this school would not be in the shape that it is. Also, if he had a backbone he would not of taken the money. Does caught on camera mean nothing to you? You must be friends with strickland.

Here we go again, some more stealing from their place of work. I think all of the embezzeling going on they should put them all together and find out which one is the smart guy, they are all thieves and should be punished to the full extinct of the law. Send them to prison even if it's for 52.00, stealimg is stealing!!!!!! I be their heads are not so high in the clouds now!!!!

Wake up people. He was caught on camera stealing the money like it was no big deal. The man is guilty, he will be found guilty and hopefully will never work in a school system again. Now the only thing that needs to happen in MTO is to have our Principal reassigned so we can start getting our school back to where it was before 3 years ago.

Sounds like he got caught with his hand in the "cookie dough jar." Maybe the cookie dough that didn't get delivered can be found in Craven county.

There is three sides to every story his, hers, and the truth!!! I agree with another parent. Why was the money not deposited before the end of school and why did the secretary have to return to school. I'm not saying he did or he did not do it but let us be real what can a person do with $52.00? We are talking about a man with a master's degree and is working on his doctrine. Why on God's earth would someone want to destroy there reputation for $52.00? Personally I smell a rat. One thing is for sure..."when you dig a ditch for someone else make sure you dig one for yourself cause you will fall face in first!!!!" What goes around comes back around.
