High winds have again cancelled ferry run here in Eastern Carolina.
The D.O.T. says its Ocracoke-Swan Quarter and Ocracoke-Cedar Island routes are closed due to continued gale force winds.
The Ferry Division says the weather event was forecast to move through the area Thursday night, but did not. Sustained winds of 45 miles per hour and gusts of higher speeds make it unsafe for ferries to make the over two hour crossing of the Pamlico Sound.
The Ferry Division will continue to monitor conditions and says it will resume runs once it is safe to do so.
