Can you remember when it's been this cold for this long? Well the National Weather Service says it's been about thirty years.
NWS meteorologists say we haven't seen a cold snap like the one we've seen this winter since 1980.
The average temperature has been right around 40 degrees this year in New Bern. Weather experts say the cold snap is due to arctic air coming down from Canada.
Precipitation has been increasing lately and experts say El Nino may be to blame for much of the recent wet weather.
And we're not out of the woods yet. Coastal counties could see some snow this weekend.
