The cold weather is causing a headache for drivers.
Many of the calls to wrecker services are just for a jump.
Officials at places like Tryon 66 in New Bern say they've had several dozen calls for this service alone since the first of the year.
Experts said many of the customers at repair shops were drivers who had older batteries.
Experts say extreme cold temperatures can really wear down the battery and make it difficult for the engine to start.
Mechanics also advise drivers to unplug electronic devices like GPS units which they said drain the battery even when the vehicle is turned off.
