Fatal Wreck Closes Highway 55 In Craven County

A 21-year-old woman from Pink Hill was killed Thursday morning when her car veered off a Craven County highway.

It happened this morning on Highway 55, west of New Bern near Tuscarora.

Troopers say 21-year-old Brittany Wells of Pink Hill was killed when her car veered off the road and struck a tree. They say her fiance was following in another car when it happened.

The Highway Patrol says it is still investigating what caused her to run off road.

I am brttney cousin and this a sad time for her family. She lost her daughter 3 weeks ago and her mother 8 years ago. She was the sweetest little girl and continued to be the same person as an adult. It was her time to go and she was called home. Please keep our family in ur prayers. Joel loved brittney and what lead to this accident was God calling her home. We will all someday face this. She is now a beautiful angel in heaven.

Please....no negative comments. Have a heart! She left work this morning with "Hope you have a nice day, Denny" I said the same thing back and told her to be careful. She was a beautiful, bright young woman who I had the pleasure of working with. I will miss her terribly. There was no arguement, period.

So sad. I wish I would have done a better job keeping in touch with family. My heart goes out. My main memories were eating breakfast and going to the mall with my grandma and aunt carol and her having brittany with her. Great times. Brittany, god has reunited u with your mother and daughter. Enjoy heaven where everything is perfect!

He was following her because the places they were going to be working today were in the same general area. Joel and Brittany were very close and loved each other very much. Be strong Joel, Brittany is in a much better place now than we are. All who knew her will miss her !!!

I am really upset to hear about this, I have known Joel almost my whole life and I have known Brittany and her family for 20 years, the comment from Jacob was very uncalled for and I hope and pray that God stays with Joel, Derwood, Pearl, Brandon and Rockie in this time of need!!!! Joel Remember the Lord said: "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,is when I carried you." I know you love the beach and I hope this helps you through your time of need!!! Please know that you will always be in mt prayers.
