New New Bern Mayor Sworn In

It was an historic evening in one coastal city as a new Mayor and 5 new Alderman took office in New Bern.

New Mayor Lee Bettis who won in a November runoff election was sworn in by Superior Court Judge Ben Alford.

Five out of the six Alderman who took office Tuesday night beat out incumbents in the October election.

It was a packed house as many stood in the hallways and down the stairs just to hear the meeting.

New board members thanked voters and vowed to take the city into it's tri-centennial on a positive note.

A new city manager will be chosen Thursday night and the city will hold open city hall day this weekend for citizens to come and meet their leaders.
