FAA Computer Glitch Affects Flights In ENC

There were widespread flight cancellations and delays nationwide because of a problem with the FAA system that collects airlines' flight plans.

The problem is even affecting regional airports here in Eastern Carolina.

The computer glitch was fixed around noon Thursday, but the domino effect caused flights at New Bern's Coastal Carolina Airport and Jacksonville's Ellis Airport to be delayed.

Some passengers say they spent at least an hour on the tarmac in Atlanta.

Airport Director Tom Broughton says he's happy the FAA computer problem didn't happen next week during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
