Progress Energy reports the power is back on most in Havelock in Craven County. At the height of the outage, more than 1,300 people had lost power earlier.
As the morning progressed, the number of customers without power dropped down to less than 200 by 7 a.m. At 7:40 a.m., Progress Energy was reporting power had been restored to all customers. However, Havelock spokeswoman Diane Miller says businesses and homes in the immediate vicinity of the Navy Federal Credit Union on US Highway 70 remained without power. That's where crews are focusing on their work now.
One traffic light remains out at the Stonebridge intersection, and Havelock police are directing traffic. All other traffic signals are working again.
Progress Energy says the power went out around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Havelock officials say a crash into the transmission pole on the east end of the Navy Federal property knocked the power out.
