No Light On Bike Leads To Drug Arrest

Police stop a man on a bicycle because he was riding at night without a light, and determine he was peddling drugs.

New Bern police stopped Charles Lowry near Neuse Boulevard.

They say Lowry initially ran from police on foot but was quickly caught.

Police say he struggled with them causing minor injuries to two officers. They also say Lowry was combative while in the ambulance. At the hospital, he tried to swallow crack rocks.

Lowry is charged with assault on an officer, and several drug charges. He was also cited for riding a bike at dark without a light.

When I saw the picture of his face I laughted. When I read the story I laughted even more. This character deserves Dumb Criminal of the Year Award.

He must have crashed his bike, since he had no light on it after dark and most likely no helmet either. Why did he still have the crack when he got to the hospital? I would think that he would have been under arrest by then and presumably searched prior to being transported. Good job of police work though.

GREAT NEWS! It is about time some police enforce biking laws. Maybe Greenville police will learn a lesson and start pulling over the bikers that are illegally on sidewalks, going the wrong way down streets, weaving in traffic, going at night without lights, kids without helmets, etc.
