Police Nab Stabbing & Rape Suspect

Just moments after police announced they had a suspect in an August stabbing, New Bern say they nabbed their man.

Brian Garrett was arrested around 5:00 p.m. at Craven Terrace.

The 17-year-old Garrett was named as a suspect in the August 27th stabbing of a woman at Pecan Grove Apartments. He is charged with attempted first degree murder, kidnapping, first degree rape, failure to appear and multiple burglary charges.

The victim was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for treatment, but has since been released.

    As a friend of the victim, I have many choice words that I would love to say to her accuser. I hope that I can trust our judicial system in giving him just punishment for what he did to her!!!
