This, even though court can't take place outside the county seat of New Bern without legislative approval and right now no new bills have been introduced allowing that to happen.
County leaders say there aren't plans to move the county seat.
Sheriff Jerry Monette says the courtrooms will be used for safe inmate transfer and further down the road as a satellite courthouse much like the one in Havelock because of overcrowding.
The 30 million dollar facility which is nearing completion includes a new jail and two courtrooms. The jail is expected to be up and running by the end of the year.
