A few good men may have saved the life of a man that drove off the road into a ditch filled with water near Havelock.
Four Cherry Point Marines saw a man drive off Lake Road south of Havelock Monday morning, and into a ditch with three or four feet of water. That's according to the Jacksonville Daily News. The paper says Staff Sgt. Carlson, Cpl. Hansen, Sgt. Lyman and Sgt. Bailey forced open the car's doors, cut the driver free from the seatbelt and performed CPR until emergency crews arrived. The man was taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The trooper on the scene says the Marines very well could have saved the driver's life.
