Flu season is about to begin, and the threat of the H1N1 virus has health departments here in the east preparing with vaccines.

Dr. John Morrow, the Health Director for the Pitt County Health Department says the vaccine for the H1N1 virus should be available for the public next month.

Morrow says the arrival of the vaccine depends on when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has enough vaccine produced to be distributed nationwide.

While the seasonal flu vaccine is available now, health officials can't say for sure what specific day they'll get the vaccine and how much they'll have. Here's a list of when area Heath Departments think they'll get the vaccine.

BEAUFORT COUNTY- Middle of October.

CARTERET COUNTY- Middle of October.

CRAVEN COUNTY- Didn't get back to us

LENOIR COUNTY- End of October or the first week of November.

MARTIN COUNTY- Middle of October.

ONSLOW COUNTY- Middle to the end of October.

PITT COUNTY- Late September or the middle of October.
