Governor Perdue says $50.8 million dollars will go to improve bridges and roads in our state.
$3.5 million will go to replace five Pamlico County bridges on N.C. 304.
The Federal Highway Administration says we'll see jobs come from that work too saying every $1 million spent on transportation creates 30 jobs.
Every dollar invested in transportation generates $6 in economic impact.
Other counties that will receive road work in our area Nash, Wayne and Dare.
Most work will start in late September or early October.
