An elderly Craven County couple say they will no longer be good Samaritans, this after they were attacked in their own home Monday.
Jack Taylor is back home after being treated at the hospital for injuries in Monday's robbery.
Deputies say the couple let a man inside their Streets Ferry Road home to use the phone. The couple, who are both 73-years-old, said the man came back after Mary Lou Taylor had left.
Jack Taylor was pistol-whipped and when his wife came home they were both tied up.
"We can't be a good Samaritan in our own home anymore because next time we're going to be murdered," Mary Lou Taylor told WITN News.
The man robbed the couple, and stole their car. It was found on Cow Pen Landing Road. Deputies continue to search for two suspects in the robbery and assault.
As for Jack Taylor, he's now sitting beside his door with a gun. "We've helped so many people that have had accidents on this road, but the next time someone comes to the door bleeding to death we're going to have to turn them away," Mary Lou Taylor said.
