Perdue Signs Budget; Heckled In Hometown

Governor Beverly Perdue says she has signed the state budget, but she's not happy about it.

She told that to reporters during a public event inside New Bern's city hall as some 50 protesters heckled her from across the street. New Bern is the governor's hometown.

The $19-billion state budget raises taxes and cuts state services.

Perdue was at the public unveiling of a patriotic bear statue to commemorate New Bern's 300th birthday next year.

The hecklers were protesting taxes and health care. Several times when the governor spoke the group could be heard booing her. Perdue ignored them and kept speaking.

dear anonymous-what does it even matter why she didn't decide to change her last name after her divorce? does that make a difference in any way? maybe its just a personal matter that really just doesn't concern you!

Here is why I would never vote for Bev Perdue. I was on a flight from Charlotte to New Bern about 3 years ago with the governor and others, US Airways flight. She had left her jacket in the terminal. She call the flight attendant and said we needed to taxi back in and get her jacket. The attendant said they could not do that but would get it flown to New Bern on a later flight. The governor started hollering and cursing at the flight attendant, saying did she know who she was, and she would have her job for this action. I then lost all respect for bev.

Here is something we can all agree on: All politicians are self-serving crooks!

Did you NOT know that Easley was governor before Bev and they were both Democrats? Do a little more research before you repeat the same old talking points from your Obama Change worksheet. You wanted change and he's giving it -- let's just hope he doesn't learn what's after trillion or he will be gunning for that change!

Ted, Elaine has drinketh of the koolaide. Sleazly, a democrat, made the mess for Purdue, a democrat to fix? I am the feared blue dog democrat and would never have voted for either of these idiots. Its about them, money for them, in their pockets they line. It sounds like Elaine was an Obama voter, you know, the guy that would let our elderly die than treat them from foot fungus? I hope she sleeps well tonight knowing her simple vote can cost so much damage. The day when NC realizes the problem is voting in the same party in this state cost money, education and jobs long term. Its about the royalty, not you or me. So, when there is a "real change", voting out the incumbent is the answer.

Elaine have you forgotten that she was our Lt. Gov right under Sleazly and has had her grubby hands in this mess from the beginning. I didn't vote for her, and can't wait until the next election, now that people have got a good dose of what unrestrained democrats are all about it should be easy for the Republicans to swoop right, hopefully just in time to save us. Lets just hope the Republicans of 2010 and 2012 are conservative and not like the RINO's of 2008.
