Patriotic Bear To Call New Bern City Hall Home

What has an American flag on the front, and a state flag on the rear? It's New Bern's "Flag Bearer" Bear.

The patriotic bear will be located at city hall during a ceremony August 7th. The fiberglass, life-size statue was purchased by the Coastal Women's Forum and painted by local artists.

The bear is the city's mascot, and some two dozen Town Bears will be located throughout New Bern during its 300-year anniversary celebration.

The group wants to place even more bears. To become a sponsor for a Craven County school or to become a "Friend of the Bear" call Barbara Lubsen at 252-349-5438 or Vicki Vitale at 252-626-6750.

To fiberglass a poor pig is cruelty, where is PETA? They should picket the city and demand the pig be unfiberglassed immeditately. I am still upset about he nagas that people made nagahyde furniture with, made the creatures instinct......
