Unexpected Road Dangers

Havelock officials in Craven County say someone is setting up drivers to get into accidents, and in some cases, they are succeeding.

Havelock officials say since Friday, someone has been putting welded wire in the roads, which is difficult to see, especially at night. That wire has shown up on Shepard St., Speight St. and Karol Dr. in Havelock. Officials have one report of an accident because of the welded wire.

On Highway 70, officials say someone strung a cable or electrical wire across the the road near Nunn St. A motorist drove into it and seriously damaged their car.

Officials say they want drivers to know about these hazards. They also want to hear from anyone who might know who is behind them.
People can make anonymous tips on the Havelock Police Tip Line by calling (252) 463-7115 or online at www.havelocknc.us. At the website, select "Police," then select "Tips."

CCW holders keep watch. These punks won't think it so funny to be face down on the ground with a gun to their head when caught.

I used to live in a state where kids used to through bricks, rocks etc. off of bridges over highways. When caught, they said they thought it was funny. Many people were killed, severely injured not to mention the trama and damage to cars. This society needs to hold these punks accountable for these stupid actions.

people should stop to think about their actions...but they dont there is a lot of younger families in the havelock area and they have small children with them often...not to mention the elderly that have cateracts/slower response time...etc...this could easily lead into a accident resulting into multiple deaths...homicide//prison//what are people thinking?
