Woman Attacked, Robbed Of Pain Meds Outside Pharmacy

Police say a woman was attacked in a parking lot of a local pharmacy, the robbers wanting her pain medication.

New Bern police have charged Justin Avery of Vanceboro and Marissa Gonzalez-Yula of New Bern with common law robbery and conspiracy to sell and deliver a controlled substance.

It happened Sunday night around 9:00 p.m. at the Walgreens on Neuse Boulevard. Patricia Young of Newport told police she saw the couple across the street at the hospital's Express Care when she was being treated.

Police say the 47-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and beaten. The two suspects were located by police a short time later and arrested.
