Bears are popping up everywhere in one Eastern Carolina City.
The public art project hosted by Bear Town Bears was selected as part of New Bern's 300 Year Anniversary celebration in 2010.
The bear is New Bern's symbol. More than a dozen life size bears will be on display through next year and were purchased to guide people through a public art display called Bear Tracks.
Eight are currently on display and 10 more are in hibernation.
We caught up with one of the Bear City's local artists.
The Bear Town Bears steering committee is planning many events highlighting the bears during 2010. .
