A woman in town visiting family over the weekend is recovering after being raped by a man police say was a friend of the family.

New Bern Police have arrested 34 year-old Angelo Williams of New Bern and charged him with second degree forcible rape.

Police say the attack happened early Saturday morning in the Copperfield Apartments Complex.

The victim's cousin, who police say knows Williams was also at the home at the time of the rape.

God only knows what actually happened...keep in mind that even if it started out consensual and then mid encounter she changed her mind and told him to stop it still is considered rape by law so charges will be filled. I had a buddy that sat on a jury for such a trial. The girl was drunk and thought the guy was her boyfriend. She was willing at first then near the end realized that it was a friend of one of her room mates. At that point she started screaming and her room mates came in. So either way it will all be in the hands of the jury at this point as there are many details that will not be given to the media. But I do agree with Animama all it takes is for a female to have a regret and scream rape after wards and now some mans life is going to be forever changed. Even if acquitted his life is still going to be in disarray.

Animama had better watch what you say. Sometimes you may have to eat your own words.

Questionable...if the cousin was home why did he/she not do something? Maybe visiting cousin thought "oh God what have I done" and cried wolf. I am a woman but I have mixed feelings about women crying rape unless it is a cut and dried attack.
