The NC 43 connector is now open for travelers.
New Bern elected officials cut the ribbon Monday morning in Craven County.
Crews were able to finish the 2.5 mile, 35.4 million dollar connector 5 months ahead of schedule.
The road connects 43 with 55 west of New Bern to US 70 in Craven County.
It was initially approved as an incentive for expansion by one of the county's largest employers Bosch, and is expected to keep highway 70 bound traffic off of Neuse Boulevard and Glenburnie Road.
