Local People React To Easley Firing

By: Christine Kennedy

Exhausting and draining. That is how one NC State University Board of Trustees member living here in the east, describes Monday's ordeal over Mary Easley.

Bob Mattocks of Trent Woods in Craven County graduated from North Carolina State University in 1957, for the past eight years he has been on his Alma Mater's Board of Trustees.

He says Monday was one of the saddest days in school history, but certain decisions had to be made.

Jim Woodward was appointed the interim chancellor by UNC System President, Erskine Bowles. Woodward spent 16 years as Chancellor at UNC Charlotte.

It seems politicians can write their own ticket. It doesn't matter if you are the governor's wife or just a superintendent. All u need to know is the right individual. Belonging to a certain party doesn't make a difference. It is all in who you know!!!!!

"Local People React" - How about local "person". You have one comment and it "ain't" much. How about some of the guts of the story? If this were a Republican you can bet every little detail would be displayed for scrutiny. This is one of the poorest pieces of journalism that I have seen in a longtime. This wasn't even worth the time and effort of reading. It told you nothing but an opinion.

It doesn't matter wheather she was fired or let go. The tax payers do not have to support her.

Well look at it this way, with the 3 or 4 that already stepped down and with her being fired, I say that the state budget an the college's budget should be A OK. Let's get rid of some more high dollar useless government employees.

The next one should be Eskine Bowles. He knew about it also. This is a can of worms and everyone should go fishing!! The terms of her firing might be most of her salary! Go figure. My salary gets cut and she gets the raise. My, my!

Where in this "article" state she was fired? What kind of reporting is this, WITN? Dumbing us down is one thing, but ya better be on the smartinin' up if you really expect it to work...For the sake of journalism, please, clean up your act.
