Another Snafu For Newspaper Distributor

A newspaper chain in the east delayed production by several hours for the second time this week.

Officials with Freedom ENC which owns newspapers in New Bern, Jacksonville, and Kinston blame the delay on a new software used in conjunction with the papers' new format. On Monday, production was delayed by about 4 hours and Wednesday delivery was only pushed back by about 2 hours. The new compact edition debuted on Monday.

Officials with Freedom ENC say that during the production delays, full access to their online papers was given to all non subscribers. They've also had staff members delivering complimentary papers for feedback on the new format.

Despite its origins, American Heritage and other dictionaries now consider "snafu" a word, as in a "badly confused or ridiculously muddled situation" or "to make confused or chaotic."

The two printings of this new format so far have sucked. Not only is the layout horrible, the print is blurry. Very reader unfriendly. A dying paper for a sying town. How fitting.

I am really suprised that printed newspapers even still exsist! Most papers are only good for lining the bird cage floor like the other person said..

It doesn't make any difference. The Kinston Free Press still works best as the liner for the bottom of a bird cage.
