At Least 5 Busted In NCHP Check Point

A joint effort by a number of law enforcement agencies made the beginning of the holiday weekend a little safer Friday night.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol, Havelock Police Department, Carteret County Sheriffs Office, and Craven County Sheriffs Office stopped at least five drunk drivers, discovered four pounds of marijuana and a little crack cocaine.

One man lost his license for a year after refusing to be tested by a Havelock Police Officer.

The drugs confiscated were valued at close to two thousand dollars a pound. The drunk driving suspects were arrested and they spent the night in the Craven County jail.
