A man who police say raped, bound and severely beaten a woman Tuesday night in New Bern has been found in Wilmington.
Robert Partyka was apprehended on Highway 17 in Wilmington while driving the victim's stolen minivan.
Police say the rape happened at the Trent Court housing complex.
The 31-year-old Partyka will face charges of second degree rape, crimes against nature, larceny of a motor vehicle and two counts of communication of threats in Craven County.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections website, Partyka was convicted of an assault on a female and communicating threats in September 2008 in Craven County. According to the website, he was given probation and a suspended sentence of 12 months.
