New Bern Man Wanted In A Stabbing Case Caught In Florida

A New Bern man accused of stabbing his wife was picked up by lawmen in Jacksonville, Florida.

Thomas Reginald Adams was picked up by a Sheriff's Department in Florida at 10:45 Friday night.

A spokesperson says Adams was driving his wife's Kia at a high rate of speed through a residential neighborhood.

Sheriff Deputies say they had to use stop sticks to gain control of the vehicle. Adams according to the spokesperson became violent with several lawmen and their canine dog until he was subdued with a teaser.

Adams was taken to a local hospital in Jacksonville with dog bites.

A spokesperson says Adams now faces several felony charges before he'll be extradited back to New Bern. The deputy said he expects Adams to be in a Florida court room on Monday.

New Bern police had called Jacksonville lawmen after tracing a call from a Florida pay phone to North Carolina.

Original Story:

New Bern police say a husband stabbed his wife Wednesday morning.

According to authorities when they showed up to a home at 1707 Asheville Street, Carol Ann Adams was found stabbed. She was airlifted to Pitt Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Police say they are looking for 48-year-old Reginald Adams right now.

Police say her husband, last seen wearing jeans and a green shirt, fled the area in a silver KIA Sportage with license plate number TTZ-7910. Police think he could be headed to the Norfolk, VA area.

Police are warning residents not to approach Adams but instead call 911.

R Adams is the one I'm looking for but I believe his my dad. I was name after his mother Edna Louvenia Adams. I have four sons now and his sons Christopher has three kids: a daughter and two sons; Thomas Jr. is very similiar to our dad and is presently in custody. I'm saying all of this because my dad is a very sick man but his still my dad. I'm not trying to support his actions but I would like him to know some of the good qualities he left on this earth. Please if anyone has information on his whereabouts, the case number or anything that would allow him to see us, please email me back. And for Carol: If this is the lady I lived with once, I tried to demostrate my anguish towards domestic violence and at that time I was pregnant living with ya. Just remember that you had chances to leave earlier and you waited. So did my mom but its something about me that changes him temporary. God bless you and your family. Please contact me we still care about you... Sincerely, Louvenia Adams

I would like to leave all of you with a message. I watch shows where women stay in a relationship because they are scared and whatever have you. Carol stated that she as threatened with the her and her mother's life. I feel really bad for Carol and also for myself. I wish I knew Carol, who by the way is my aunt by marriage. That is right! Thomas Adams is MY UNCLE!. I have not seen him since I was about 5 and I hardly know him, but as for Carol, I hope now that you get a chance to get away if you really want to. I have been told that he needed medication to cope and Carol knew that too. If she was not able to handle that and found herself in a situation that she could not get along with, I do believe in GOD removing things from you that you can't yourself. Once again I am truly sorry that you had to endure this for the removal of your burden. Although I don't remember you, I love you aunt Carol and wish you peace and safety. Tina Adams Hampton.

Ouch! A "teaser". Is that anything like a Taser? Thank goodness this animal is in custody. Let's hope the DA does not go easy on him. Personally, I am sick and tired of women being assaulted and killed by the very people who are supposed to love them. The cycle of domestic violence is vicious. Unless you have been a victim of such abuse, you could never understand why someone would "just not leave". If only it were that simple. Praying for Carol and her quick recovery. Just remember this Carol, you are the one who has the power now!

I am carol, the one who was stabbed. no one will ever know the 5 years of pain and abuse I spent with thomas adams. He is a sick man and I was a prisoner. I never did anything but love him and lie to the people who loved me to cover up the truth. why didn't I leave...the simple fact that he threatened to kill me or my mother. walk 1 second in my shoes. feel what I felt, and judge no one. I will recover with years of mental therapy and I will recover from a stab wound that the man who claimed to love me so much gave to me. six inches through the back and into my lungs. my wonderful neighbors busted the door open, that's why I am alive. thank you all... you know who you are. to those who ever think God would ever okay this is a creep. maybe you need medicine too. save someone and seek help. carol adams

just got one question...."teaser".......... funny. On the topic the punishment in the US needs to change. This kind of criminal is the type that should face the ultimate punishment. Stop housing them, stop feeding them, stop teaching them to be better criminals. The prison system is a joke, time out only, no punishment.

Ank......are you serious? I can not believe you were sick enough to put a comment on here like that. So it is ok that he stabbed his wife if he was going by the Bible? Maybe you should be his defense attorney. Sounds like you are already full of it....so you could do that job well! It doesn't matter who lied or what the lie was about (even though I have no idea where you came up with that one), the fact is...a person was seriously hurt and could have died. They person who did that to her, deserves to be punished!

I feel bad for the lady and I hope she gets better. Before any of you Christian fundamentalists with your self-righteousness jump on this story I'd like to just put an idea out there. Maybe this man was just a Christian following the Bible. If a husband finds out his wife wasn't a virgin when he married her, he should stone her to death according to the Bible. Maybe he figured a knife would work better than stones.
