In an effort to keep up with a growing number of patients, one hospital in the East has expanded.

After seven months of construction Craven Regional Medical Center's new emergency department wing in New Bern is complete.

They've added 7 more treatment beds and Eco-friendly tiling and flooring.

The number of patients at Craven Regional has nearly doubled since 2006 to almost 70 thousand a year.

The total project cost about one and a half million dollars. The hospital also received a new ambulance with auxiliary funds.
