It's an historic celebration at one of New Bern's most recognizable tourist attractions and the Tarheel state's first Governor's mansion.
Several dozen people gathered Thursday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Tryon Palace at the Tryon Jubilee.
The palace itself is much older, but it was opened to the public back in 1959. Many on hand are expected to tour a new exhibit inside the palace Thursday night.
