POLICE: DWI Crash Critically Injures Driver

Police say a woman charged with drunk driving was critically injured in a weekend accident.

It happened just before midnight Saturday on Racetrack Road in New Bern.

Police say Christina Baily has been charged with DWI and could face more charges. They say the 34-year-old woman's SUV crossed the center line and hit another car head-on. Kristen Phelan of Grenville suffered broken bones in the crash.

Bailey was transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital and police say she's in critical condition.

Members of the police department's traffic unit are performing a total reconstruction of the crash Monday morning and have closed Racetrack Road near the railroad tracks at least until noon.
