Pamlico Chamber of Commerce President Facing Embezzlement

The president of the Pamlico County Chamber of Commerce is facing embezzlement charges.

Authorities say David Kitchen embezzled more than $6,000 dollars. The missing money was discovered after chamber officials conducted an internal audit.

Investigator Billy Jewel tells WITN News that Kitchen deposited checks and would hold cash back. Lawmen say he also wrote checks and sent money orders from the chamber to his personal businesses, which are not chamber members.

Kitchen has been removed from office and former president Carla Bryson has taken over.

I agree with you Rick. They should have done this the whole time all the way back to the Great Depression. I hope justice will be served with this crook. I may guess that he is probably one of the richest people in Pamlico County, with a mansion around Oriental or Minnesott right on the Neuse River. I would love to see them take his house away for that.

We need to insist our judges ensure any convicted white collar thieves who take for greed, not need, do at least a couple of real years (truth in sentencing) hard time. I believe it will discourage others, and they'll be recycled for more lawyer food soon enough.
