Local Officers Train For Active Shooter Situations At High School

You may see law enforcement surrounding a local high school Wednesday, but it is not to handle a crime.

Officers and deputies from Pitt and Craven Counties began Advanced Law Enforcement Active Shooter Training Monday and will be at D.H. Conley High School Wednesday afternoon working on drills.

Law enforcement officials will face real life active shooter scenarios, made up of both classroom and hands on training and tactics.

The active shooter training aims to help prevent violence against law enforcement while protecting lives of officers and innocent bystanders.

Training will take place 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at D.H. Conley High School.
