$106,000 Raised During Leukemia Cup Regatta

Many people were out on the water in Pamlico County this weekend raising money for a good cause.

The 2012 Leukemia Cup Regatta, benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, was held on the Neuse River near Oriental on Saturday and Sunday.

This is the second year for the fund-raising event, hosted by River Dunes Marina.

Thirty-six boats raced in 6 different classes, raising a record $106,000 for blood cancer research.

Top fund-raising captains were David White on Tidewater; Steve Ura on Hearts and Bones; and Bill Scott on Marvanna Dawn.
