Marines Coming Home Today

Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point is welcoming home 150 Marines Wednesday after a seven-month deployment.

Marine Attack Squadron 223 is scheduled to return home at 10:34 a.m. Wednesday. They deployed in January aboard the USS Nassau with a compliment of six AV-8B Harriers.

Their deployment began with helping earthquake victims in Haiti.
The Marines went on to support military efforts in the Middle East and spent more than 160 days at sea.

And the return home was extra special for one couple. Sergeant Jonathan Mahaffey proposed to his girlfriend Alysha Morgan when he arrived. His mother hid the engagement ring on her finger. And she said yes. Morgan says they're not quite sure when they'll get married, but for now she's just glad her new fiancee is home.
